LOCAL RECOGNITION PROJECTs
Take Part in Something Great
We believe partnerships, collaboration and working together at the local level is our greatest asset to combating Veteran homelessness, poverty, unemployment, mental trauma, substance abuse and the most daunting of all – suicide.
Operation Honor Our Local Veterans, Inc. is a non-profit founded by local Veterans committed to honoring local men and women that made the ultimate sacrifice to serve in the United States Armed Forces.
As Veterans who have faced the numerous challenges of transitioning from warrior to civilian, today we can confidently recognize the turning point that improved our life. Our journey to recovery stemmed from the support and introduction to resources by another fellow Veteran. This is the catalyst we will build on and deploy.

Your donations will allow our Veteran run organization to create opportunities to honor our local Veterans not just for their commitment to serve our Country but also for their willingness to serve their community.
We are committed to recognizing our Veterans that are local servant leaders while working towards attracting our men and women returning home to embrace this new role and opportunity as a civilian community leader.

In 2021, your generous donations will allow Operation Honor Our Local Veterans to host three major events while continuing our Emergency Funding for Galveston County Veterans impacted by Covid-19 and the Winter Storm.
Our first major event for 2021 will be our Galveston County Veterans Leadership Conference scheduled for September. Guest speakers, Veteran Service Organizations (VSO) and venue are being confirmed at this time. The event will be open to Galveston County Veterans seeking new ways to continue to serve while providing hands on support with VA claims, legal concerns, job placement, college enrollment and leadership development. The Veterans Leadership Conference will have limited seating and enrollment.
Our second major event for 2021, a community favorite, will be our 3rd Annual Galveston County Veterans Day Celebration that is scheduled for Thursday, November 11th at the Galveston County Fairgrounds. This past year we had over 4,000 in attendance and we honored 12 military Veterans who not only served our Country but made a commitment to return home and serve their community. The full day event included a Prayer Breakfast, Vietnam Luncheon, Parade, Vendor Fair, Awards Ceremony, Live Music, and fireworks. The event feed over 3,000 in attendance and was free for Veterans and open to the public.
Our final event for 2021 is designed for school aged kids of our Veterans. Our Galveston County Veterans Christmas Party is committed to helping 40
Galveston County Veteran families in need. Our past event provided live music, meals, photos with Santa Claus, and every child received a bicycle and a minimum of three wrapped gifts. Marathon Petroleum has confirmed their sponsorship and will be this years donors of Christmas gifts for the children of Veterans.
These events are not possible without your generous donations and volunteerism. Men and women who served in our United States Armed Forces have made the ultimate sacrifice to serve our Country and provide us the freedoms we all enjoy as Americans. Let us not neglect them or leave them without proper recognition.
